Rock Island County
Rock Island County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of 2000,
the population was 149,374. A 2008 estimate shows a slight decline in the population to 146,886.
Its county seat is Rock Island, Illinois. It is one of the four counties that make
up the Davenport-Moiline-Rock Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. Accounding to the U.S. Census Bureau,
the county has a total area of 451 square miles, of which 427 square miles is land and 24 suare miles
is water.
The townships are: Andalusia, Blackhawk, Bowling, Buffalo Prairie, Canoe Creek, Coal
Valley, Coe, Cordova, Drury, Edgington, Hampton, Moline, Port Byron, Rock Island, Rural, South Moline,
South Rock Island, Zuma.
